When clients tell me that they want more confidence, I always ask them to break that down. What does that mean? How does it feel? 

You see, this is different for everyone and by digging deeper, my clients begin to identify and surface some limiting beliefs that they can then release.

For example, let’s say that my client says, “When I’m confident, I don’t care about what other people think.”   

Now we’re getting somewhere!  My client has just surfaced a fear of being judged by others… which is extremely normal and common, but really purposeless,  when you think about it! So many of us are run by this fear.

So… how does one simply STOP caring about what other people think? Read on to learn the process… 

Next I’ll ask them, “When was the first time you can remember experiencing this fear of being judged by others?” They might have to go way back in childhood and I use techniques that help them to get there.  Their first event might have been in kindergarten during show-and-tell and my client may recall NOT getting the class response that they had hoped for.  

We use a technique called Time Line Therapy and I will then ask my client to “imagine floating about the memories of your life, back towards the past and let me know when you see the event.” 

I then ask them to “Float above the event and get a lesson that enables you to release that fear because you know it just prevents you from achieving happiness in your life.”  

Everyone MUST arrive at his or her own lessons because at this point, it is truly their subconscious mind speaking directly with their own subconscious mind.  

This is the magical time and place when breakthroughs occur.  The lesson may be as simple as “What other people think will never make me happy… All that matters is that I live my life with integrity because I’m the only one I live with 24 hours a day!”

The above may seem basic and obvious and something that everyone always knows. That may be true… BUT… everyone knows that in the conscious realm and NOT in the subconscious mind!! This distinction makes all the difference!

I’ll then ask for another description of what “confident” feels like and we continue like this until my client has released all of the negative emotions and limiting beliefs that prevent them from really feeling good about themselves.  

You see, it’s NOT about GAINING confidence… it’s about RELEASING or GETTING RID OF whatever it is that PREVENTS us from being our authentic selves.  When we can comfortably “be” in the world as we are… without fear of judgment or other negative thoughts weighing us down, we are naturally confident.

Confidence lies buried underneath all those layers of garbage that we create for ourselves with negative emotions and limiting beliefs.
