I often hear from people who tell me they’re feeling stuck—unable to find the motivation to move forward or engage with anything that feels meaningful. It’s a common experience, and one that can feel deeply frustrating.
But what causes that sense of inertia?
Surprisingly, it often comes down to something very simple: the thoughts you’re thinking.
Take a moment to consider—are your thoughts mostly encouraging, or are they critical? What are you telling yourself, day in and day out? Most people never pause to examine the thoughts behind their emotions. They just know they feel down, overwhelmed, or unmotivated. So they shut down for a while, maybe watching television or reaching for something comforting in the kitchen.
Before I begin working with a client, I often ask them to try a simple exercise: write down the thoughts that are running through your mind the next time you experience a negative emotion. Then, make note of what you did afterward.
This helps bring awareness to how your thinking shapes your behavior.
For example, someone might have the thought, “I’ll never find a decent relationship.” Underneath that, there might be a deeper belief, such as “No one will ever love me because of my weight.” That kind of thinking can lead to behaviors like emotional eating—or, depending on the person’s mindset, a constructive action like going to the gym.
The important thing to understand is that most of us are operating on autopilot. We repeat the same thought patterns without ever realizing they’re driving our feelings and choices.
Through NLP coaching, we begin to challenge those automatic thoughts. We look for the limiting beliefs that are holding you back, and work together to shift them. These beliefs are often long-standing and unexamined—but once you become aware of them, they can be released and replaced.
In hypnotherapy, I guide you to visualize the actions you want to take and the life you want to create. When your mind sees you succeeding—whether it’s giving a confident presentation, exercising regularly, or making a meaningful change—it begins to treat that vision as something familiar and achievable.
During the session, I also help you connect with the feelings of confidence, pride, and motivation. When you come out of hypnosis, these positive suggestions are already embedded. As you begin taking action, the confidence you imagined becomes real. That momentum builds on itself, helping you move forward with greater ease and clarity.
If you’re feeling stuck, there is a way through. You don’t have to push through it alone. Hypnotherapy and NLP coaching offer practical, effective tools to help you move past old patterns and into the life you truly want.
