Why is it that some people can be on time every time… and it’s a seemingly impossible task for others?
Of course, this has to do with internal programming from the time of early childhood. In some households, parents demonstrate with their behavior that a promise or commitment is never broken. Children in this environment will grow up with a deep respect for the spoken “word” and when they give someone “their word,” that is not to be taken lightly. This “computer chip,” or program, will be firmly implanted in their subconscious mind.
For other people, their programming may have led them to the belief that “your words are not set in stone” … “I can say this now and change my mind later” may be an interpretation that was developed in childhood.
Perhaps someone important to them may have consistently promised to pick them up at noon and showed up at 2 pm… thinking it was no big deal. In order for that child to make sense of the world, they had to develop the belief that this was not only acceptable, but it’s the way it’s done. With enough repetition, this becomes an internal program that is hard to break.
Sometimes there are other reasons for chronic tardiness… I once had a client who realized during a 4-hour power breakthrough session with me that her pattern of being late was a power play. Though very targeted hypnotherapy and NLP Coaching techniques, she discovered that this behavior was caused by root feelings of inadequacy. She had this incredibly powerful breakthrough that “she felt more important if she made the other person wait.”
When she heard how ridiculous that sounded when she said it out loud, she burst out laughing and that old limiting belief disappeared in that instant!
Let’s always remember that the beliefs in our subconscious minds are created when we are children… so… it makes perfect sense for them to sound child-like when they are finally revealed.
Unfortunately, this subconscious program ultimately cost my client her job… and that’s when she came to me to break this pattern of behavior that was destructive in her adult life.
Ironically, many of the beliefs that help you to survive childhood, will hurt you as an adult.
If you find yourself with patterns of behavior that no longer serve you… just give me a call or send me an email. You might be shocked at how many ridiculous programs you are running beneath the surface that hypnosis and NLP Coaching work can help you to identify and release.
I invite you to join me in a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation that will be a real eye-opener and start the ball rolling for you.
