I used to be a 2-pack a day smoker, so I know what it’s like to enjoy smoking and then decide one day that I need to quit.  It took me many attempts before I eventually did quit for good.

At that time, I had never heard of hypnotherapy and I just quit cold turkey because I was just so sick and tired of smelling like a filthy ashtray and being a social pariah. It was really hard, but I powered through because I was super motivated.

I certainly do wish I had known then what I know now, but at least I’m now able to share some powerful smoking cessation tips with you!

If you are eager to give up cigarettes forever… read on!

Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques are excellent resources to create a shift in your thinking so that cigarettes (or e-cigarettes) no longer appeal to you. Through these modalities, clients are able to release negative thinking and emotions that tie them back to the smoking habit.

For example, sometimes people smoke because it represents a psychological bond with someone special in their lives. This was the case for me because my mother was a heavy smoker and she died when I was 17-years-old. That’s when I started smoking her cigarettes as part of the grieving process because I felt she was still there with me through the smoke. I had no conscious idea that was the reason until much later in life when I got some breakthroughs around it. My subconscious mind certainly felt that bond in a big way, though!

Regardless of the reasons for smoking, some clients are able to quit smoking entirely just by following these tips. Others are able to cut back substantially and just want a little help from me to cement their resolve to stay off cigarettes forever.

If you’re serious about quitting now, I have 5 free tips to offer to you that will help make giving up cigarettes forever easier for you.  They will also test your resolve to quit:

  1. Switch Brands – This makes what was once a familiar habit slightly unfamiliar to you and begins the process of loosening up that grip that smoking has on you.
  2. Switch Hands – This is creating new neural pathways so that it feels different.  Again, this is breaking the mindlessness of picking up a cigarette to smoke. In other words, more thought must go into the smoking process, making it less of an unconscious habit.
  3. Cut Cigarettes In Half – By only smoking the filtered end, you are cutting down the nicotine addiction by 50%!  Your subconscious mind will still get the satisfaction of smoking and won’t recognize that you’re smoking less.  The truth is, most people enjoy the first few puffs the most, anyway.
  4. Change Places Where You Smoke – Try to make it less comfortable.  If you smoke in your favorite easy chair, smoke outside standing up. If you already smoke outside, change the place. When smoking is no longer associated with great relaxation, it will start to lose its appeal. The truth is that there’s nothing relaxing about smoking cigarettes and, in fact, nicotine has the opposite effect. The only relaxing part is the deep breathing that goes with taking  burning smoke and poison into your lungs.
  5. Drink lots of water to flush out the toxins in your system.
